Portrait of Veronika Deviatival

Hi, I am Veronika Deviatival

Veronika Deviatival was born in 2000 in the Far North of Russia, Norilsk.
She received her initial art education at the Talnakh Children's School of Arts (2014–2017).
She subsequently moved to St. Petersburg and pursued higher education at SPbSUITD, specializing in graphic art (2017–2023).
In 2022, Veronika immigrated to Tbilisi, Georgia, while continuing to return to St.Petersburg for her exams.
Since 2024, she has been actively participating in exhibitions, festivals, and lectures. In the years immediately following her graduation, she favored vibrant painting and bold concepts as an act of rebellion against academic standards. She now specializes in relief and planographic printing, exploring new techniques and modes of artistic expression.

Artist Statement

Veronika uses different mediums for different purposes.
In her paintings, she prefers acrylic and oil pastels, using pure primary colors to create dreamy and happy, escapist scenes. She describes these works as a desperate search for relief in our sad, crumbling world.
As a graphic artist, she uses ink for drawing on paper, typographic ink for linocuts, and oils for
monotype. Her graphics are dark and contrasting, and Veronika uses this to convey more complex concepts and heavy emotions.
Regardless of the medium, all of Veronika Deviatival's art is united by a desire for simplification and naivety. She strives to communicate with the viewer through clear images that can directly convey a powerful feeling or idea.
